Hi all, my band (Let The Flames Begin) is a Paramore, pop punk, and emo tribute band looking for a second guitarist as ours will be leaving in December. We do tribute shows with similar bands, but we've also been adding other female pop punk, emo, metal and rock songs to our setlist so we can play more of the large club/bar/theatre type venues that require longer setlists. Other bands include My Chemical Romance, Tonight Alive, Honey Revenge, Icon for Hire, Avril Lavigne, Senses, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Killers, Coheed and Cambria, Jimmy Eat World, and more. Venues to play would include places like Jammin Java, Sauf Haus, Pearl Street, Hi-Lawn, Songbyrd, The Light Horse, NOVA Live, Renegades, the Bullpen, Caddies, Salisbury Center, Death Punch Bar, Reclaim Arcade, Pie Shop, and possibly State Theatre and some places in Baltimore. The Paramore tribute sets would be anywhere from an hr to hr and a half, while some of the general pop punk/emo gigs might require 2-3 hr long sets.
Ideally, I’d like to find another guitarist who can play rhythm guitar and do lead vocals on the emo, pop punk, and metal songs our female singer can’t do. Harmonies too. I’m also down with sharing lead guitar parts. Eventually, I want to start working on some original songs to add in, in the same vein as what we play (would love someone to co-write with). Gear wise, you'd need IEMs and preferably wireless for your guitar to move around stage. Also, flexibility in terms of real amps/cabs (for larger venues) and modelers/direct for smaller venues. I use a real amp/cab (we don’t do quiet stages) and like having someone else with a real amp/cab. But I also know some venues are particular, so having both is helpful. New guitarist would also need a drop pedal or equivalent due to alt tunings (we play a lot in Eb, Drop Db, and Drop C).
Ideal age would be someone who lives in NOVA, late 20s – early 40s, easy to get along with/hang out, available for bi-weekly practices on a specific day of the week, can rehearse a little more before bigger shows, is open to coordinating wardrobes for shows, and can commit to at least monthly gigs that could be on Thurs, Fri, Sats, or Suns. The gigs do pay, but no one here is expecting to get rich and we all have full-time jobs. I’ll usually invest anything we make back into gear for the band or photography. Practices would be in the Alexandria/Annandale VA area at my home. I have a full e-kit, amps, PA, and mixer, so all you'd have to bring is a pedalboard and guitar if you wanted. Here is our band’s IG and some videos of us live. If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to reach out here or message me on the band’s IG with any questions or interest in auditioning. Since our other guitarist is helping finish up the rest of the shows we have booked this year, I'm really looking for someone who is the right fit and fun to be around, and not trying to rush anyone into the role too quickly. So I appreciate the patience. Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you!
