This is a Ceramic Posy Pillow by famed Georgian ceramic artist Cindy Angliss. It is hand thrown art pottery designed specifically for flower arranging, and is incredibly versatile.
1) Used for floral arrangements (Ikebana & Posy Vase). Run water in the holes then place and arrange the stems as you like. This enables you to use the ceramic pillow without that green floral foam. I hated that stuff as a child. Uggh! The ceramic supports the centerpiece without that green stuff.
2) To use a liquid diffuser, just fill w/ water and add a few drops of essential oils. The porous nature of raw ceramics and the open holes let the scent steadily waft through the house.
3) To use as a potpourri holder – tuck dried herbs or lavender buds in holes to use the pillow as a drawer sachet. Don’t use love experimenting to find the scent that best represents you? You can also use this as countertop dish for the same purpose.
4) Or, make a desktop organizer for your makeup brushes, pen & pencil holders or nibs for calligraphy, or even as an incense holder.
5) Or just as a piece of unique pottery. Doesn’t it look like a letter? Very rustic farmhouse or cottagecore.
This was found in Nana's front room after she passed, on her mantle and desk/bookcases.
