This Mid Century beauty comes from Nana’s estate and was in her front room. She used to sit in her wingback chair, near the front window to catch the early evening sun or maybe later in the evening, watching TV with her English tea by her side.
This built-in table lamp is in good shape considering it having been around for decades, probably since the late 60s to the early 70s. It is one of those rare MCM floor lamps with the built-in table. This is USED and can be used as is, but eventually you may want to refinish it to restore it to its former glory.
This lamp comes with an original lampshade. It feels like some sort of aged silk which is on both the outer and inner layers of the shade. The shade itself has a 2 ½” tear on the upper inside of the silk-like shade. It does not show, but then again, in the dark ages, imperfections were just turned towards the wall. : )
This has lamp has aged brass (?) accents that include a brass lamp tube, to a wooden twist on-&-off switch and an above-table solid wood body with beveled layers and what appears to be a brass doorknocker. We have joked that this is probably the only lamp ever made with its own door-knocker. Then the under-table continues with more beveled wooden layers of turned wood with a solid wood body. The entire lamp stands on a brass accent piece just above a beveled, carved base. The entire lamp rests on what appears to be 4 rounded brass legs.
Finally, our family calls this a Cabin lamp because, back in the dark ages of the 1970s, the only place you would see this type of lamp was at a summer cabin at the lake and we remember seeing at least one there. And most people didn’t have top-of-the-line things at the lake house. Which is why we think this is probably 1960s.
Please research these vintage MCM floor lamps with tables. We are pretty sure if this is fully restored, it would be worth upwards of 1K.
