The wood is Fir reclaimed from a Timber Framer (went to a seminar there and have always liked BIG wood). I've been making things for a long time, mostly tables (all sizes). This is 44 1/2" long by 21 1/2" high. The "seat" block is 9 1/2" across the seat by 8" top to bottom. The seat posts and feet are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 12" front to back also fir. The posts are set and glued into pockets under the seat with long lag bolts through from the top. It is very solid. Wherever there is a "joint" there is glue and screws or bolts. I've had this for a long time but it's in a place where it's not used and just in the way.
