The cushion is firm. It's especially good for older dogs that need more support. The mattress area is 7" thick.
The cover is microsuede and is very soft. It is removable and washable. It has been washed. I always kept a blanket over it, so the cover is in excellent condition.

You can find this bed online. From what I've seen, even when on sale it still costs around $300.
I set the price low because knowing another dog will be comfortable using this would make me happy. :-)
