Makers Mark ~ Acme China, marked "Made in Japan" refers to mid-20th-century porcelain and ceramic export wares produced by Japanese manufacturers for the Western market. Primarily made between the 1940s and 1960s, these hand-painted, affordable decorative pieces were designed for the American post-war demand for colorful, accessible and novelty items.
PROVENANCE ~ These planters were from my Mother's collection of pottery planters and have been in storage for decades. She used them to plant bulbs, flower arrangements and succulents.
