Welcome to Lake Craig! Lake Craig boasts some of the most beautiful and exotic Fish to be found on the West Coast. Before you begin casting about in Lake Craig’s waters, however, please familiarize yourself with the Lake Craig Fishing Regulations. These have been prepared for your use so that you can have the best experience at Lake Craig and avoid some of the common mistakes made by inexperienced Fishers.


LAKE CRAIG FISHING REGULATIONS

1. Lake Craig is open to the public, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, provided you have the appropriate equipment and a fishing license. Some parts of Lake Craig require additional qualifications, and you will be prompted to answer questions before entering the fishing area, where appropriate. Fishing licenses are available year round, at no cost to you. You must provide your own fishing equipment, however. Lake Craig does not rent fishing equipment.

2. Lake Craig is divided into different areas depending on what you are looking for. Certain parts of Lake Craig are quite popular, such as the Fishers Seeking Fish and the Casual Fishing sections. It is generally assumed that if you are fishing at Lake Craig you are a Fisher seeking a Fish, but there are parts of Lake Craig that cater to Fishers seeking other Fishers, or the rare Fish Seeking Fish. Be advised that most Fish who seek other Fish don’t need to come to Lake Craig, as it is quite easy for them to meet their own kind in various schools. Fish who seek Fish tend to be shy and don't like to have others watch them, so no Fishers will be admitted to the Fish Seeking Fish section of Lake Craig. Aside from this restriction, Lake Craig is an Equal Opportunity Fishing location.

3. IT IS AGAINST LAKE CRAIG REGULATIONS TO PRETEND TO BE A FISH IF YOU ARE A FISHER. Such behavior tends to frighten and confuse the real Fish, as well as piss off other Fishers. Lake Craig has a zero tolerance policy for Fishers pretending to be Fish. Violators will be banned from Lake Craig permanenty and are subject to censure by the Lake Craig Fishing Association.

4. Once you have selected your fishing area, it’s best to know what kind of Fish you are looking for. Some Fishers prefer to use nets in order to try and catch a large variety of Fish. Others prefer to selectively cast with a single pole. At Lake Craig, you will find that most Fish know how to avoid large nets, so that method tends to be less successful. But whatever your method, it’s best to know the kind of Fish you want before jumping in. Check the Lake Craig Fishing manual if you have any questions about the different types of Fish found at Lake Craig.

5. Cleanliness is VERY important to the Lake Craig Fish. Be sure to clean your pole & bait between each cast and/or catch. Make sure to get your equipment tested regularly. It goes without saying that Safe Fishing is important for everyone at Lake Craig. Lake Craig Fish are a fastidious lot, so it pays to err on the side of caution. Fishers who clean their equipment regularly are welcome to fish at Lake Craig indefinitely, and may be eligible for lifetime membership in the Lake Craig Fishing Association.

6. Lake Craig recommends that you use live bait over fake lures. The Lake Craig Fish can usually spot most artificial lures a mile away and tend warn their fellow Fish about them. Fishers with clean, shiny poles and healthy bait usually have the most success, but not without multiple attempts and dogged determination. Lake Craig Fish are an exotic and elusive lot, often seen but rarely captured. They are desired the world over and have bested some of the most accomplished Fishers. It pays to be patient and make multiple attempts before giving up for the day. You never know when you will find a Fish that is in the perfect mood for catching.

7. Attitude is extremely important when it comes to Fishing. You should fish with the belief that you are going to catch a Fish, even if you never do. Confidence is everything. If a Fisher becomes impatient and repeatedly casts the same bait around, the Fish will know the Fisher is desperate and avoid the bait. Lake Craig Fish can always tell when a Fisher hasn't caught a Fish in a long time, so try to avoid appearing anxious or irritated when Fishing. Lake Craig Fish do not take kindly to being insulted by angry Fishers who haven’t caught Fish in a long while. In the past, Fishers who bad-mouth Lake Craig Fish have ruined an entire fishing season for other Fishers. If you need to talk to someone about your fishing average, we recommend you contact the Lake Craig Fishing Association for support group meetings.

8. If you are lucky enough to actually catch a Fish at Lake Craig, be sure to treat it carefully and with respect. Make sure the Fish is comfortable, well fed, and enjoys the experience too. Every Fisher knows that taking care of the Fish’s enjoyment is the key to successful fishing. Lake Craig Fish do not take kindly to being caught, used and then tossed back into Lake Craig. They tell their fellow Fish everything about the Fishers they encounter at Lake Craig, and have a vengeful streak. If you are careless with a Fish at Lake Craig, the Fish will tell all the other Fish that your pole is small, your boat dirty, and your bait cheap. All the Fish will avoid you because they fear catching some nasty fishing disease, and you will never be able to fish at Lake Craig again. It's possible that your fishing success at other lakes could be in jeopardy, as Lake Craig Fish have many contacts around the world. So treat your Fish right and you many enjoy successful fishing for many years to come.

9. When it comes time to leave Lake Craig, please make sure you clean up after yourself, and return your Fish to its natural habitat. If you treated your Fish well, it will thank you and may allow you to catch it again on your next trip to Lake Craig. If you did a really good job, you may find a few Fish swimming around your boat next time, having heard a rumor that you carry tasty bait on a long shiny pole. Anything is possible at Lake Craig. We ask only that you treat the natural grounds with care, throw away your trash, and recycle cans and bottles. Please do not feed the bears.

10. CAVEAT: Lake Craig provides no warrantees or guarantees of any kind regarding the quality or quantity of Fish at Lake Craig, or the likelihood of making a catch at Lake Craig. The recommendations listed here are merely suggestive and should not be considered advice from a professional. Consult a professional Fisher if you have questions regarding Fishing. Because each Fish is different, Lake Craig cannot guarantee that you will catch a Fish at Lake Craig no matter how hard that you try or how many fishing trips you make. Nor does Lake Craig represent that any Fish are actually present at Lake Craig at all. By accepting a Fishing license from Lake Craig Fishing Association, you expressly release Lake Craig from any and all liability associated with fishing at Lake Craig, whatsoever. All Fishers must agree to indemnify and hold Lake Craig harmless from any results of Fishing at Lake Craig or any claim made by Fish against Fishers. In no event shall Lake Craig be liable for any incidental, consequential or punitive damages associated with Fishing at Lake Craig.
