I brought in my lunch today, a frozen lasagna, so that I could work my 8 hours straight through and leave. I cut the film on the top and microwaved it for 9 minutes at 50% power as required. Then I bring it back to my computer desk. I begin to pull off the film cover and as I do, the lasagna starts to slide off the table because of its slanted end that I forgot about. I was not prepared to react. Who puts a 3 inch slant on a computer table? It isn’t good for my keyboard, it isn’t good for my mouse, and it isn’t good for my lasagna. The lasagna does the obligatory 1/2 flip onto the floor.
So now my lasagna is lying face down on the carpeted floor. I immediately try and flip it over, but it stuck to the floor and not the plastic container it was in. I put the container back over the lasagna and try and put my hand underneath and then flip it over. It’s right out of the microwave, so it burns my hand, and a third of the sauce and meat and cheese is still on the floor and coating my hand. I take some tissues and try and clean that up, but it left a huge stain.
Now, do I eat my floor seasoned lasagna with extra carpet lint? You bet. I was starved and did not want to take the 10 minutes to go to McDonalds or another fast food place, 10 minutes to order and eat, and 10 minutes back to work. I am determined to leave work by 4:30 today, so I ate it, carpet lint and all.
