Day one
Arrived in Portland to receive training and badging for the customer. Landed at PDX international airport. Slightly overcast and a nice breeze blowing, nice fresh air. Very green here, what a wonderful change from the valley. Found the hotel, the friendly people here in Portland let me know when I turned the wrong way on a one-way street. Nice to be able to park on either side of the road, one-way streets rock. Starbucks right next to the hotel, how convenient, that will be great! Hotel has happy hour sushi! Had sushi and beer at hotel for a great price!
Day two
5:30AM garbage trucks start making their pick ups and are rather loud. Well I went to bed early and I guess it is time to get up anyway. First stop, Starbucks; yum, wonderful coffee! Slight mist in the air and cool fresh morning wind, the coffee really helps (not to mention that I had two great beers last night). Drove from downtown out to the office. Wonderful drive, very relaxing, everyone goes five miles per hour under the speed limit! Got to the office at 7:30am, nobody around, great chance to catch up on email and have a second cup of coffee. Finally get everyone together to get into the customer site to start the work at 9:30, well it is Monday I am sure we can get a better start tomorrow. The customer site looks like a very safe place to work, a lot of safety precautions. Had some fast food for lunch. Finished up for the day at the customer site and headed back into town at speed limit minus 5mph. I LOVE sushi, and it is cheap too! Drank a few beers with my food, good beer.
Day Three
5:00AM garbage trucks start making their pick ups and are real loud. Well I went to bed late but must not be too tired if they woke me up. First stop Starbucks, good coffee even though she got my order “almost” right! Raining again and still windy the coffee really helps. Drove from downtown out to the office. Nice green drive and you get to sight see because everyone goes five miles per hour under the speed limit! Got to the office at 8:00am, nobody around, great chance to catch up on email and have a second cup of coffee. Got into the customer site around 9ish, feels like we are still getting a late start. Took two hours to run a simple cable because of all the damn safety shit. Not much to eat around here for lunch except fast food. That’s ok because I will get a good dinner tonight. Had to take a mid-afternoon break for a coffee, I think drinking a triple shot in the morning is getting to me. Took an extra 15 minutes to get back to town because the rain is partially mixed with snow. People manage to drive even slower even though the road is just wet. Didn’t want to go out in the rain to find different food, just had the happy hour sushi again. Had a coffee and a shot of tequila to go with my three beers tonight.
Day Four
4:00AM garbage trucks start making their pick ups and are stupid loud. What’s up with this 4:00 stuff, doesn’t anybody sleep around here? God I’m tired! First stop Starbucks, must have triple shot coffee! Seems like my coffee isn’t quit right! Raining again and still windy, the coffee is now a necessity. What the hell is wrong with these drivers? How can you possibly go so damn slow when given three damn lanes and no damn traffic? Got the office at 9:00am, there are very few people around; I am starting to realize people just don’t come into the office. Wendys for lunch again, I am so sick of greasy fast food! Took an hour to drive back to Portland, %&^# people I’m going to buy a gun! Turned the wrong way down a one-way street again, people ran out to waving to stop me. If I had a little faster car I think I could have gotten two more of those dumb bastards. Fucking one way streets, what a shitty idea. Three or four cups of coffee with this nasty ass raw fish. Had to have four beers just to wash down this cheap ass sushi! All wired and drunk, can’t sleep at all. Going out to some clubs, Thursday should be real good. Lots of women here, some are a bit large, but most likely just need to find the right club.
Day Five
I am going to take the gun I bought and start picking off goddamn garbage men! How in the hell can they make so much noise, it just isn’t natural! Fucking rain. Damn I need coffee. Starbucks chick screwed up my order again and this time got white chocolate in my moca and not LITE chocolate must have water in her ears from all this damn rain. I am flipping everyone off today, slow ass bitches. Got yelled at for going over 5mph in the customer parking garage, what the hell is that? Safety ok, but that is just freakin stupid! Blowing past people by driving down the shoulder of the road, they just can’t drive here. Sat down in restaurant and told the waitress to bring me a pot of coffee and just start bringing beer. If she brings me one piece of raw fish I will cram it up her ass. Went to two new nightclubs, all fat chicks or gay guys. What the hell is wrong with this town! Got home just in time to enjoy the garbage trucks.
Day Six
Police out front of the hotel looking for the gunman who killed three garbage men. I can’t believe it can rain for six straight days. Walked into Starbucks and knocked the female barrister out of the way and made my own damn coffee. Drove to the PDX airport (and what the hell does PDX mean) and flew back to SJ. Walked outside and saw the sun, damn my eyes hurt. Got into my truck and headed down 101 at 70mph, damn I am flying. This is just scary, and there are people passing me in the fast lane. I love San Jose! Slept for two days, god it feels good to get all that caffeine out of my body. Boss asked me to go back to Portland; I wonder when he’s going to get out of the hospital?
