happened during the 3 pm (PST) hour, should be resolved now, thanks for your patience

Sorry for the hassles, but as part of our ongoing anti-spam efforts, we are requiring that some accounts that were previously authenticated via phone verification re-authenticate. Most of the issues we are continuing to hear about are from Blackberry users and some users of older (6.0 and below) versions of Internet Explorer.

In our testing, Blackberry OS 4.6 and later seem to work well with the CAPTCHA. Previous versions of the operating system don't work with the Blackberry Browser, but there have been reports of success using Opera Mini. We're still talking with reCAPTCHA about trying to make the entire system more mobile-friendly.

People still experiencing trouble should visit our help desk forum and supply the helpers there with as much specific information as possible about your computer, web browser, and ISP.

We think we've squished all the bugs in this section. If you're still seeing any of them, let us know at the help desk.

Craigslist will be in "read only" mode on Thursday, November 12th from 10pm to 2am PST (UTC-8) for routine system maintenance. Search, new postings, and account services will be unavailable during this time.

We are experiencing some rig madness that might be visible as timeouts or server errors. We're working on them and expect to have them tamed at some point this evening

UPDATE:
Our mailservers have been unblocked, so the posting suspension has been removed. Hopefully we can work with Microsoft to prevent problems like this in the future. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Microsoft mailservers recently began blocking mail sent from craigslist mailservers to @hotmail.com and @live.com addresses. Microsoft mailserver technicians have been notified regarding this error. Posting to craigslist using @hotmail.com and @live.com addresses has necessarily been suspended pending a fix. We regret the inconvenience.

Currently we are experiencing timeouts, "unable to process" errors, and other malfeasances. We're working on it as fast as we can. Sorry.

UPDATE: The site has returned to normal, and the merry craigslist elves are sorting the shattered bits to rebuild it better, stronger, and faster than it was before.

Users are reporting problems reposting ads in theraputic and adult services. We are looking into it.

Update: We believe we have fixed the therapeutic / adult services repost issues.
