Seas the Day Charters USVI is seeking an experienced **full-time Marine Mechanic** to join our repair and maintenance team in St. Thomas. Seas the Day operates a fleet of 10 charter boats, including sailing catamarans and powerboats that operate throughout the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience diagnosing, servicing, and repairing **Yanmar marine diesel engines and saildrive systems**. Experience with Yanmar 2YM, 3YM, and 4JH-series engines, as well as SD50 and SD60 saildrives, is strongly preferred.
This is a full-time, year-round position in a fast-paced commercial marine environment. Our vessels operate daily, so the mechanic must be able to diagnose problems accurately, complete repairs efficiently, and help minimize vessel downtime.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
• Diagnose and repair Yanmar marine diesel engines
• Service and repair Yanmar SD50 and SD60 saildrives
• Perform oil changes, filter replacements, impeller changes, belt replacements, and scheduled engine services
• Troubleshoot fuel, cooling, exhaust, electrical, charging, and starting systems
• Diagnose overheating, oil leaks, fuel problems, engine shutdowns, unusual noises, and performance issues
• Inspect and repair saildrive seals, diaphragms, shifting systems, cone clutches, and related components
• Perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer service intervals
• Assist with engine, transmission, saildrive, generator, and equipment installations
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts used, and completed work
• Identify required parts and provide accurate information for parts ordering
• Coordinate daily work with the Fleet Manager, captains, and operations team
• Respond promptly to mechanical issues affecting scheduled charters
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area
Applicants should have professional marine mechanic experience and a strong understanding of diesel engine systems. Experience with marine generators, outboard engines, 12-volt electrical systems, plumbing, pumps, steering systems, and general vessel maintenance is beneficial.
Candidates must have their own basic hand tools, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the physical ability to work in engine compartments and aboard vessels. The position requires outdoor work in a tropical marine environment and may occasionally include early mornings, weekends, or emergency repairs.
Compensation is competitive and based on experience, technical knowledge, certifications, and demonstrated ability.
