FLIPPER ALERT - all you have to do is replace the intake manifold gasket, do a little carb work (they're ez) maybe replace tires, wash & wax & buff maybe, and you can make $$ off this. I just don't have the time and I'm driving a 4 door car. No need for 2 door cars anymore.
Bicentennial Edition.
As newish-unrestored as you'll ever find...from 10 feet away it looks brand new - before it sat under a tree for a while that is :)
Bought 15+ years ago from the original owner, making me 2nd.
56,xxx original miles. I put about 10k on it.
No rust to speak of & frame-etc has been treated so it won't rust ever.
351 M=Modified
2-bbl carb.
Electronic ignition is the only 'computer' in the car (to go bad).
Gets about 18-19mpg hwy, less in stop & go.
Has cruise control which worked, before the gasket/carb was taken apart.
Carb choke not installed (have original parts) as I was going to put manual on.
Disc front drum rear, new cylinders & shoes in rear last year.
No ABS (IMHO ABS sux).
Manual windows - will always work.
AM-FM but the FM stopped working a few years ago.
15" tires hold air, but for hwy driving you may want to replace them.
I have 4 used but much newer tires with 50% tread.
ALT & PS worked fine & made no noises.
Hideaway headlites worked fine. (they are slightly open in 1st pic as all vac hoses were unplugged)
Leaked NO fluids & burnt NO oil.
Engine (lifters, crank & rod bearings) made NO weird noises hot or cold.
Remote control cable operated mirrors.
Carpets are out of it now so they don't cause floorboard rusting. They are in exc shape.
New fuel pump and lines 2026.
Seats are like new, no marks anywhere.
No cracks dings or scratches in glass AFAIK.
Dash has no cracks.
Headliner is perfect (oddly enough).
(Real Steel) front bumper has a very small ding.
PS - these are 'box-section' bumpers, about 5x as strong as old style steel.
Small ding in hood hard to find.
Paint was 9.5/10 but been sitting under tree.
Wheelcovers are exc & off it in storage.
I had to take the vinyl top off as it had caused a couple quarter sized rust spots. Those spots have been treated so they won't rust any more.
You will need a battery.
BAD
A couple years ago I was driving it & all of a sudden it wouldn't idle. So I got it home & had to set the idle 2-3 turns higher, & hold the choke nearly closed to make it idle at all. IMHO, the intake manifold gasket is leaking, & due to the air leak it's not getting enough gas via the carb (air + gas) to mix with all the air it's getting via leak.
I checked all the vac lines, etc, and found nothing wrong. I took the top of the carb off and checked for a plugged up jet, but found no problem. Days later I took all the vac lines off I could find and plugged them. It didn't help. I took the carb top off again and found nothing plugged up. I then took the carb all the way off, took the EGR plate off, and put the carb back on which bypasses the EGR system. It didn't help.
I took the AC compressor off to get it out of the way, plus I never use AC anyways. Also, the distributor does not go thru the manifold & does not have to come off to get the manifold off AFAIK.
I think the intake manifold is leaking & needs to be replaced. I've had a couple 'experts' look at it & they agree because, it won't idle w/o the choke on. There is a possibility the EGR valve is bad instead but I don't see how as I bypassed it.
Currently the carb acc pump is plugged up from when I had a 'repair shop' work on it but they're easy to clean out. (New carb acc pump + gasket installed too)
SUMMARY
IMHO, this car is worth 2-3 times what I'm asking, and all it needs is an intake manifold gasket and a little carb work.
I just don't want a 2 door car any more, so even if it ran 100%, had new tires, a cd player, & a vibrating seat (bench seats can be VERY convenient :) I wouldn't drive it as I have a 4 door Buick.
It has been sitting under a tree - YOU will have to wash it !
If you want to offer less, send comps or else your offer means nothing to me.
I was saving this for my Son but that might not happen.

Text "1976 FORD" and THE DATE to slow down some spammers. I will text or call you back. If you do not answer the 1st call, I won't call again as there are too many (already) folks spamming & scamming me even after 1 day. They must be unemployed as they obviously have nothing better to do. Plus, we are NOT going to be playing text games. If you can't talk on the phone then don't waste our time.
