This is an original 1950s Fender Champion Lap Steel Electric Guitar in very good original condition with original case. It’s one of the earliest electric guitars offered by the Fender Electric Instrument Company of Fullerton, California, USA. The low serial number (1446) confirms the age of the instrument (please see pics).
• Professionally serviced and cleaned.
• Except for new tuning machines made by Kluson (the manufacturer of the original tuners), the instrument is 100% original. Including: the body, headstock plate, pick up cover, wiring, capacitor, potentiometers, the pickup, volume and tone knobs, and case.
• Because the original plastic buttons on the tuning machines are very brittle, one button broke while tuning many years ago. These original tuners are included with the guitar, and replacement plastic buttons are still available. Also, includes the slide when bought from original owner.
• The blue felt backing, which is usually long gone or discolored, is in very good condition.
• The pearloid wrap finish is intact with some crazing, and absolutely no peeling, it’s in remarkably very good condition for its age!
• The guitar works perfectly and sounds fantastic.
• The brown chipboard case is in good condition, all latches and hinges work, and original plastic handle is in very good condition.
Manufacturer, date, and resistance codes on the bottom of potentiometers are: 304021, and 250K (ohms). Please see pics and ID link.
304 = Stackpole (manufacturer)
0 = 1950 (the single digit represents the year of the potentiometer)
21 = 21st (week of the year)
