Act One, Scene One

Me: If you really loved me, you would buy me a pony.

You: Do you think we could get some more breadsticks?

Act One, Scene Two

You: The cemetery is the most popular place in town; people are just dying to get in.

Me: Buy me a pony.

Act One, Scene Three

You [shaking of head in serious manner]: If I had to choose between torque and toques . . .

Me: I really like ponies.

Act One, Scene Four

You: Do you ever put on that song “Dancing in the Dark,” and then dance around in the dark?

Me: Want to mess around?

[Offstage groping.]

Act One, Scene Five

Me: We are supposed to be at the denouement.

You: Yes, but I have unresolved issues with meringues and other foods consisting primarily of egg whites.

Me: It may be something from your childhood. Do you fear the Angel Food Cake?

You: It is like you are reading my soul. Come away with me and be my bride and we shall live in a splendorous house by the sea.

Me: Dude, you forgot the pony.

You: Okay. Come away with me and be my bride and we shall live in a splendorous house by the sea, and I shall buy you a pony.

Me: Cool.

[Jazz hands.]
