I'd prefer to find a band that plays a variety of dance music like Rock, Soul, Funk, Motown, etc. but I'm open to something else.

Hello all!

I've been playing guitar for a few years, mainly acoustic, and I'm getting ready to play an open mic night sometime in the next couple months. I'm not a great singer, but I wouldn't say I'm bad. Ideally I'm looking for a female or a guy with a higher vocal range than mine. I would like to jam maybe once or twice a week, nothing too serious, just so I can get practice playing with other people since I suck at that right now.

It would be great if we could write some songs together and maybe play some covers as well. I'm into a wide variety of music but since I usually use an acoustic guitar that kind of limits the 'metal' in my jam sessions haha. I would love someone who could hit the chorus notes of Midnight Oil - Beds are Burning, they are just too high for me!

I play acoustic/electric, electric and slide guitars, harmonica, and a little bass. I am looking for a core group of myself on guitar and vocals, a bassist and a solid drummer. Trying to create different sounding, original stuff--unorthodox and exotic instrumentation built on a solid foundation of melody and strong rhythm. Material runs the gamut from balls-out rock to stoner-psychedelia to understated rhythmic acoustic folk to gorgeously crafted ballads. As much focus on lyrics as on composition.

We're a new band formed to enable us to grow as musicians, while playing the types of music that will bring us 2 to 4 paying gigs per month. This means we cover a range of styles from softer material, suitable for when people are eating or talking, to rocking dance numbers.

OK, so i have had some success with posting ads, but have had littel success with the groups that I join/start lasting very long, please and i say please... respond only if you hope to create a band that will be as serious as possible, in the metal world that is rather hard to do, but I have the attitude for it so I am hoping that there are others out there like me. Anyway My most current band is in the early stages of ending and I still have so many ideas for great songs, I cant let this setback stop my musical flow. My influences are many, main ones include: thrash metal/death metal/ speed metal/ hardcore, alternative, and industrial.
