Senior Project Manager

As a Senior Project Manager you will play a key role in the success of our client's projects in the high tech industry sectors of Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Specialty Chemicals, and Advanced Energy.

Summary

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, scope and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through team members or subordinates .


Key Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Responsible for ensuring that all managed projects are successfully completed per project scope, on time and within budget in a manner that meets or exceeds the client's expectations.
2. Generates project proposal and execution plans to define time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
3. Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
4. Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
5. Directs and coordinates activities of project and cross-functional personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
6. Reviews status of all elements of project regularly and modifies schedules and plans or identifies and executes corrective actions as required.
7. Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
8. Coordinates with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
9. Coordinates project activities with activities of all client stakeholders and government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
10. Maintains high standards for all project deliverables especially with regards to quality and safety.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.

Education/Experience
Must meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of ten years experience in engineering or manufacturing, including at least 5 years managing capital projects. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have thorough knowledge and significant experience of managing all phases of projects of varying type and size. Experience should include managing fast-track projects with budgets in excess of $5 million.
• Must have a thorough knowledge and significant experience in managing construction.
• Must have demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in the high tech industry sectors of Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals, Specialty Chemicals, or Advanced Energy preferred.

Language Ability
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write and speak about technical and business topics in conformance with prescribed style and format.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have an advanced understanding of project activities and interdependencies, project planning techniques and associated software applications (MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel).

Certificates and Licenses
Certifications: California Professional Engineer License preferred.
