so. i am a 20 yr old female who since jr high has been in love with guitar. john mayer to be specific brought me to the good side. and what ever kind of music u like u cant say jm doesnt play some badass guitar. so last march ona whim i finally bought my first guitar and did what soo0o many people try to do i. vain. teach myself how to play. its hard to say the least . with so much info on the internet its hard to know where to really start or if ur really playin right or exactly HOW to tune ur guitar.

so what im lookin for is someone who wants to teach me. not that does lessons. i want someone who wants to share all they know and love about the guitar and music with me. I could totally pay a lil something like 20/hr but also i could make you are fed a home cooked meal. maybe a drink and if ur a 420 kinda person we could possible do that too.

I hope to find any other guitarist, bassist, drummer or group of musicians who are not already an established band. But also it's refreshing to hear music that isn't made from two guitars, a bassist and drummer, so if you play any keys, brass instruments, calliope or whatever, then read on as well.

I've been playing guitar for almost ten years. I'm pretty decent, but I don't shred like should. My early influences were NOFX, Lagwagon, and more punk bands of the Fat Wreck Chords variety, Ozzy, old school Metallica, some classic rock, some Slayer, and everything else under the sun as long as it rocks. Now days I still emulate NOFX, a handful of metal bands, and those others listed above, but I'm also getting into the popular indie rock and alternative rock such as MGMT, Muse, The Black Keys, Bloc Party, etc. I want to find people who might know some of the songs I know, can collaborate in writing new ones, and sooner or later be a band.

I'm 24, have transportation, have a good amp and pedal, and probably not the best practice space. Practice about once a week would be good.

This is enough tracks to record every input separately, as well as capture the live ambience with a variety of room mics. Great mics and preamps available. Right on to the last poster. This whole web site is full of whiners. I'll add my thanks to Frank and the staff at Zone. Even if I'm just buying picks, I get treated with respect. Been going there as long as I can remember. We had a gig at the Phoenix and Sergio (sp?) loaned me an amp for the evening. I love the flea market too. I hope they keep making money and stay open long and prosper. And, by the way, I feel the same about Tall Toad. I always go there if I'm in Petaluma.

Vocal Technique Tune-ups For Live and Studio Performances

During my four decades as a vocal coach, I have taught hundreds of people how to find and command their authentic and wholly unique voices. Some were famous (Al Jarreau, Paula West, Madeline Eastman, Lavay Smith), some infamous (Divine), and others were interested in singing solely for themselves.

The formula for mastering one's voice includes a self-awareness of posture, voice placement, and most importantly the intake and use of breath. While the process is absolute, there are many ways to express these necessary functions for the purpose of speaking and singing. I address these issues on a personal level, attending to the uniqueness of each voice and respecting each individual's style and sound.

I began my musical pursuits at 14 years old as a coloratura soprano. At 16 I snuck into a Boston club to hear Sarah Vaughn and was so taken with her style I changed the vocal course of my life.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to do a sound check for Billie Holiday, who gave me her blessings; performed in San Francisco, New York, Sydney, and even Bora Bora; and recorded and produced two CDs ("A Leap of Faith" and "Havin' Myself a Time").

While I feel blessed for my musical past, I still delight in awakening the musical dreams of singers at all ages and stages.

My studio is in San Francisco's Cole Valley and I offer a sliding scale rate of $80-$100 per hour, as well as special discounts for students, seniors, and the first introductory lesson.

I'm a decent guitar player and I have what i believe is good taste and I have good ideas. I'd like to work with other people who are decent players with good taste . About myself, I originally trained as a choir/classical vocalist who preferred Rock, currently in my mid 30s, influences encompassing from The Doors, Journey, Eagles, Presley, through Cole, Sinatra, toward Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Toad, Metallica, Guns N Roses, through Creed, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Semisonic, Matchbox 20, Barenaked Ladies, Bryan Adams, to name a few (yes, even Jefferson Starship). I�m not a pro, but I�ve found myself enjoying places that promote karoke (just came home from one, actually), and have received favorable reviews, sound a bit like Scott Stapp. There�s been a few fans who�s been egging me to find and work together with other musicians, although I primarily sing for fun. Thought it was time to give it a shot and see who was in the South Bay Area. No flakes, please. My schedule is somewhat hectic, but I�d like to at least be able to dedicate one, two nights a week working with others and see what develops. As with my influences, I�m pretty open and agreeable (even another vocalist, I do miss working with male/female vocals).

I have 5-string guitar, "Guitarra de Golpe" traditionally used in classic Mexican Mariachi bands of the 1900's "and period correct revivals thereafter." I originally purchased this guitar for my father who used to play this type of instrument some 45 years ago. His health took a bad turn about 2 years ago, and unfortunately cancer has his days counted. I would like for someone to help me string and tune this guitar as well as teach me some basic notes.
