The County of Sonoma is seeking an experienced and skilled construction design project manager to fill one FULL-TIME position with the Facilities Operations Division of the General Services Department.
Under general direction, the Project Specialist is responsible for programming, planning, designing, and managing construction projects for County facilities; administering construction contracts; may be responsible for a specialized program related to facility use and development; and performs related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• 3+ years professional project management experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial design and construction;
• Certification as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and/or Certified Facilities Manager (CFM);
• Proficiency in the use of computer software programs;
• Excellent written and communication skills;
• Effective project and budget management skills and experience;
• Time management skills and function with considerable independence;
• And possess “hands-on” knowledge of commercial/institutional construction and building systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Any combination of educational course work and training, including on-the-job training that would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities stated herein.
Experience: Any combination of paid experience that would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and ability stated herein. Normally, three years of increasingly responsible project management experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial design and construction projects; or two years of experience equivalent to the level of an Assistant Project Specialist with the County.
Required Qualification: Possession of a specialized certification as required for work assignment. Environmental Protection Agency approved accreditation as an asbestos inspector and management planner for work assignment related to hazardous material.
Desirable Qualifications: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Architect or Engineer issued by the State of California, or possession of specialized certification in a specialty area or areas such as construction or project management. Graduation from an accredited school of engineering, architecture, or construction management is also desirable.
Desirable Experience: Operation and use of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) application programs and project management experience with Sonoma County. Experience in business administration, business writing and accounting is also desirable.
