My craigslist itinerary: the weekday version
Check to see if new best of has come up* while drinking morning coffee. Brief perusal of favorite categories.
Get ready for work.
Arrive at work.
Check “Furniture” listings to see if the perfect couch at a reasonable price has materialized. Become frustrated at plaid and flowered patterns of available couches and exorbitant prices for ugly custom designed pieces, move to “General” sale items in the rare event of a misposting there. On a side note, check “Clothes and Accessories” and then realize again that the neighbor of the grunge capital of the US is not the place to buy used clothes and accesories. Briefly check New York, and decide all good items on that list are knock-offs bought on Canal street.
Check new job listings in all categories in case a job that requires endless internet surfing, creative writing, and a sense of community has materialized. Retire this search with a sense of idle depression.
Check personal ads. Realize the desperation of most people, field feelings of irritation at men, feel deep revulsion for married-wanna-be-cheating guys. Check casual encounters out of curiosity, shake head at m4w and their almost assured lack of success, check m4m to see how outrageous they are. Count how many “Strictly Platonic” postings are not. Check “General” and “Activity Partners” for good measure.
Check “Pets” postings for possible back-yard breeders or people wanting to get rid of their pet because they are moving, don’t have time for it, or it got too big. Possibly post angry missives in response.
Check “Rant and Raves.” Potentially post an inflammatory anti-fatty-hater, anti-Republican, or “what happened to me that sucked today” post. On long days - as a personal contest - attempt to elicit the most responses with the shortest possible posting. Personal record: 8 responses to a 3 word posting.
Answer email that got bumped in lieu of craigslist-surfing. Yawn, stretch, and go to bed.
*Schedule is substantially altered if best-of has been updated
**Includes friends, dogs, and outdoor activity, weather permitting. Winter agenda is heavily skewed towards gym/movie/dinner.
this is in or around pdx
